You’ve worked a lot in fitness and nutrition. Tell me how you ended up in this field.
A: It actually started very young during my recovery from my eating disorder when I was 13. I worked with a nutritionist to recovery and started to consume books about nutrition, understanding the importance of fueling my body and continued into my decision to go to school of exercise science. For a decade now I have worked with women in person training them to be stronger and more confident in the gym. A few years later I went back to school for holistic nutrition and got certified as a pre/post natal coach so I could further help women feel empowered in their bodies.
What’s one thing people don’t know about you.
A: I have a deep love for Bodybuilding and love pushing my body to its limits to see what is possible for me.
What are your top recovery tips for postpartum?
A: Listen to your body! I know it sounds cliche, but honestly you know your body better then anyone. Trust yourself above all else. My tangible tips: 10 minutes of movement at the beginning is amazing, don’t stress if you cant get full workouts in. Work on the small muscles and go slow (glute bridges, deadbugs, clam shells, and walking) Don’t try to bounce back to your prepregancy body, fuel your body with nourishing foods and in time your body will settle into its new set point.
What should postpartum women focus on nutrition-wise?
A: New moms should not try to ‘diet’ you need to be eating enough for you and baby. Focus on protein at every meal, especially breakfast aim for 30g, starchy whole grain carbohydrates like oats, brown rice & root vegetables and healthy fats from nuts, seeds, & dairy.
What’s one ingredient you put in everything?
A: Protein! The source will vary but I never have a meal or snack where its not the star of the show. Oh and sea salt of course!
What are three things you can’t live without?
A:1. a dog haha but seriously I have always had a dog and can’t see my life without one 2. My running shoes - I never travel without them, love to run, walk or hike in new areas
3. My milk frother - from coffee, to tea, supplements and hot chocolate I use it a few times a day
What are you most excited about in your life right now?
A: Life is pretty great, but mostly I am just excited to get up everyday and do what I love! Being able to support women feel more empowered in their bodies is everything to me and it brings me so much joy to spend time growing my business, increasing my reach and impact to women all over the world.
Your affirmation for today?
What if…? The best possible outcome happens? What if it all works out better then you could imagine
And
The 80/20 principle, only 20 percent of the work you put in is seen, 80 percent of the work you put in you aren’t rewarded for. keep putting in the reps you never know when the results will show up.
